“A special committee has been formed to address the issue…” the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock told the National Assembly, responding to concerns over the challenges faced by pig farmers.
The Member from Sergithang–Tsirangtoed Constituency raised concerns over declining pork prices, rising feed costs, weak market demand, and recurring African Swine Fever outbreaks affecting farmers.
In response, the Minister said a dedicated committee has been established and has already begun assisting farmers in marketing their produce and linking them with potential buyers.
He further stated that existing cold storage facilities are being used to support farmers, while the feasibility of additional infrastructure will be assessed if necessary.
