At 32, Tshewang Zangmo, founder behind JJK Flower Nursery, has transformed her passion for flora into a thriving business that not only cultivates blossoms but also leaves an indelible mark in the Chukha Dzongkhag. Hailing from Mongar, Tshewang completed her Bachelor’s Degree from the College of Language and Cultural Studies in 2015, setting the stage for her entrepreneurial journey.
Tshewang shared the genesis of her venture, tracing it back to a humble beginning on a tiny farm post-graduation. “I started my entrepreneurial journey after my graduation. As a sign of my commitment, I started with a tiny farm. When visitors began to pour into my farm, they were mesmerized by the beauty I had nurtured. After receiving positive feedback, I was inspired and encouraged to start my flower nursery in 2018,” she said.
The world of entrepreneurship often sees ventures born from a unique combination of passion, vision, and a desire for positive change. Tshewang’s journey reflects this blend, driven by her enthusiasm for the business, the desire to have a positive influence in her community, an understanding of human motivations, and a vision for a profitable enterprise.
“In 2018, my dream transformed into a Flower Nursery Business, and I embarked on a journey of nurturing the environment. My autistic vision has not only blossomed in my nursery but also contributed an indelible mark on the landscape of some Gewog and check posts in Chukha Dzongkhag. My passion for flora has flourished, and my nursery now boasts an incredible 490 species of flowers and plants,” she shared.
The challenges of operating a flower business are not lost on Tshewang. Seasonal fluctuations, perishability, and competition were hurdles she faced. However, she overcame these challenges through diversifying products, improving logistics, and implementing effective marketing strategies.
Tshewang believes that the success of a Flower Nursery Business in the long run depends on customer preferences, expanding product offerings, and embracing sustainable practices. According to her, an entrepreneur is someone who initiates and manages a business venture, taking on financial risks in the hope of profit. Entrepreneurs should be associated with qualities like innovation, creativity, and a willingness to embrace challenges in the pursuit of their goals.
As a parting piece of advice to budding entrepreneurs, Tshewang emphasized, “Identify your passion. Choose a business in a field you are passionate about. This passion can sustain you through challenges.”
Meanwhile, the JJK Flower Nursery at Wangkha stands not just as a business but as a vibrant hub where nature’s beauty is nurtured and cultivated. From the meticulous care of delicate seedlings to the blossoming display of a diverse array of flowers, the nursery serves as a testament to the artistry and dedication of Tshewang Zangmo.
It’s not only a sanctuary for flora enthusiasts but also a source of joy for the community, cultivating not just blossoms but the intricate dance of growth and renewal in the natural world.
