In this enchanting environment, she fined inspiration, allowing creativity to flourish and providing a delightful backdrop for their daily endeavors.
The fragrant world of tea leaves, where each leaf reveals subtle cultural nuances and a wealth of flavor. Dechen Pelden, a 37-year-old passionate tea enthusiast, sets out on a quest to share the best blends with discriminating connoisseurs. After completing her middle secondary education and working for a while in her other business, she is now attempting something new from her regular job.
She shared, “Loden foundation is beacon of hope for every entrepreneurs.” with Loden Foundation’s support, she is now the proprietor of Black Mountain Organic Green Tea in Samcholing village, Trongsa district, producing one of the finest teas in the country. They even help me purchase equipment for processing tea and received the machine in the month of October 2023. She proudly stands out for herself independently and for improved livelihood for her community specially women.
Moreover, Dechen Pelden hopes to grow and use her experience to make tea and non-edible goods from tea leaves after working for 15 years in the green tea processing industry and obtaining training from South Korea and Thailand. Since green tea is only grown and processed in Samcholing, Trongsa, there is plenty of opportunity to process other types of tea.

Dechen shared that, “creating effective marketing and packaging design comes with its set of challenges. One major obstacle is striking the right balance between aesthetic appeal and conveying essential information. Additionally, staying relevant in a dynamic market poses a challenges.” Moreover, she shared packaging faces various challenges, including environment concerns due to excessive waste, the need for innovative designs to ensure product safety and adapting to changing regulations for sustainable practice.
According to her, an entrepreneur is a person who launches their own company based on a concept they have or a product they have developed, taking on the majority of the risks involved. Her words of wisdom for aspiring young entrepreneur who are about to begin their journey into entrepreneurship is that we need to put in a lot of effort and dedication, set small initial targets, and gradually scale up your business as you acquire experience and knowledge. Lastly, remember to never give up in the face of obstacles.
If everything goes according to Dechen’s plan, she intends to export her tea leaves in the future. “I want to connect with some other tea companies around the world, most likely in Canada, the US, and some Asian countries, so that I can easily export my tea leaves to those countries,” she stated.
