Nation’s First Adventure Recreational Park
“Druk Eco-Adventure was my third business idea which was established in August 2019 during the start-up weekend organised by Techstars, RGoB Tourism Council on tourism idea and secured 2nd runner-up. So right after that I went for month long training on Adventure Guide at Deheradhoon, India,” the founder of Druk Eco-Adventure shared.
Meet 23 years old Rohan Ghalley, an adventurous soul deeply committed to the environment. With a passion for eco-friendly exploration, Rohan embarks on thrilling journey in August 2019. From sustainable hiking trails to Eco-Adventures are a harmonious blend of trill and environmental responsibility.
Druk Eco-Adventure is an adventure service provider that offers services centred on adventure pleasure with safety guarantees. Strive to provide new experiences that are meaningful and productive through the spirit of adventure.
“Druk Eco-Adventure wants to build an environmentally friendly leisure area with a zip line as its primary form of tourism product. There will also be space for other adventure activities including hiking, sports climbing and canopy tours, as well as a café for park visitors in future,” he said.
Rohan was chosen for a 2020 Loden Foundation SSB business loan; but, because of the epidemic, he was unable to implement the new land leasing regulations, which prevented them from getting started. Furthermore, Innovative Bhutan awarded Rohan a seed funding grant of Nu. 100,000 in 2021 and continues to mentor him in his entrepreneurial endeavors. He shared that he is thankful to them for supporting him throughout his journey.
Although he failed two business ideas. Druk Eco-Adventure was his 3rd business idea, which gave him a positive vibe and he is optimistic about these venture. He attended many seminars and trainings on Eco Adventures, then he finally went to India for further training on adventure guide.
“As soon as I got back home, I went straight to the government agencies to get approvals, which took me more than six months to complete. The biggest challenge was finding a suitable location where we needed forestry areas,” Rohan said. He mentioned that he had the chance to improve his business idea related skill set through the Desuung Skilling Program during the pandemic. Currently, he and his group are looking for investors and a suitable site to expand the nation’s first adventure recreational park. Moreover, they are planning to expand their Eco-Adventure around Gelephu mindfulness city in future.
All in all, Rohan’s commitment to Eco-Adventure extends to his choice of destinations. He seeks out places where responsible tourism can make a positive impact on local communities and ecosystems in future. By supporting ecofriendly accommodations and local conservation initiatives, Rohan ensures his adventures contribute to the preservation of the natural wonders he explores.
