Surjaman Thapa is a dedicated and result-driven professional who recently served as the Chief Executive Officer of Druk Agro Processing and Packaging Units. In this role, he led the implementation of a nationwide buyback policy, ensuring all farm products were purchased directly from farmers across Bhutan. He played a vital role in promoting value addition and established strong business ties with agri-based firms around the world, contributing to the growth of Bhutan’s agro-processing sector.
With over five years of experience as a Member of Parliament in the National Council of Bhutan, Surjaman actively contributed to policy-making, legislative reviews, and national dialogue on key issues. Prior to his political career, he spent seven years as a radio and television journalist with Bhutan Broadcasting Service Corporation (BBSC), where he was known for his commitment to public service journalism and community engagement.
Beyond his professional roles, Surjaman has been deeply involved in social work through various community-based organizations across the country. His diverse experiences reflect a lifelong dedication to public service, rural empowerment, and sustainable economic development in Bhutan.
