I’m Tandin Tshewang, the eldest son in a close-knit family and the proud founder of Bhutan Health Care. My journey into the world of healthcare entrepreneurship kicked off in 2020. Armed with a solid background in entrepreneurial studies from Queensland Universities of Technology & Business and fortunate to have received Australian awards and ITCE Scholarships for advanced entrepreneurship, I was ready to make a difference.
My driving force? A deep passion for innovation and a strong commitment to transforming healthcare services in Bhutan. Bhutan Health Care, establish in 2020, became my mission – a venture that blended cutting-edge technology with traditional healthcare practices.
The idea took root when I noticed the pressing need for innovative solutions in Bhutan, especially during the pandemic. The shortage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) due to the absence of local manufacturing underscored the urgency for a homegrown solution. That’s when Bhutan Health Care stepped in, becoming the first in the country with a license to manufacture all disposable products, ensuring we could meet essential healthcare demands independently.
This entrepreneurship journey wasn’t without challenges, though. We faced some tough hurdles along the way. But the unwavering support of our exceptional team, loyal customers, insightful mentors, and the backing from Entrepreneurship Development of India, International Trade Centre, Ministry of Trade, Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Entrepreneurship, and Employment, as well as visionary investors from NCGS, played a crucial role. Together, they helped us overcome obstacles and turn Bhutan Health Care from a visionary idea into a thriving reality.
To my fellow entrepreneurs, I want to share a simple but powerful message, “Embrace your passion, fuel your determination, and fearlessly take on the challenges that come your way. Every setback is a chance to learn and grow, and every success is a stepping stone toward greater accomplishments. Remember, the journey is just as significant as the destination, and let your impact resonate far beyond your wildest aspirations.”
For me, an entrepreneur is someone who embraces innovation, takes calculated risks, and is dedicated to creating positive change through their ventures. “The journey with Bhutan Health Care stands tall as a symbol of innovation, reflecting my entrepreneurial spirit and proving what’s achievable when passion aligns with purpose.”
