Tshering Dorji serves as the Chairman of the Aggregator Network (AGN) in Chhukha Dzongkhag, a cooperative dedicated to empowering farmers by bridging the gap between rural producers and urban markets.
Leading a network of 22 members and over 2,000 farmers, he has played a pivotal role in aggregating and supplying local produce to food processors in hotels and vegetable vendors in Thimphu.
Under his leadership, AGN has fostered a market-driven approach, advising farmers on seasonal demands and ensuring sustainable income generation.
His journey into cooperative leadership was inspired by a long-standing tradition of connecting farmers with markets.
Today, the cooperative operates with an entrepreneurial mindset, focusing not only on profit but on creating opportunities for farmers.
Despite its success, AGN faces challenges, with farmer education being the most pressing. Communicating market dynamics and ensuring contractual stability amidst fluctuating prices requires continuous engagement and trust-building. However, through collaboration and transparency, the cooperative strives to find solutions that benefit all stakeholders.
