Dorji Yangki has been appointed as Managing Director of GMCA

Dorji Yangki has been appointed the Managing Director, Governor’s Office, Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority (GMCA), effective June 1, 2025.

Dorji Yangki was selected through a competitive and rigorous selection process conducted by a panel led by the CEO, GMCA, recognising her exceptional leadership, vision, and extensive experience in architecture, planning, and national policy development.

With over 28 years of professional experience in Bhutan and internationally, including more than 15 years in Bhutan’s civil service and more than a decade leading her own firm, Dorji Yangki has shaped national spatial and built environment strategies, overseen the conservation of Bhutan’s most iconic cultural sites, and advised regional and international bodies.

Her academic credentials include a Loeb Fellowship from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and a Master’s degree in Conservation from the University of York, UK. She was a national academic topper in classes 8, 10 and 12 and earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Architecture (1996) from Deakin University in Australia.

As the first Bhutanese Chairperson of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation of Architects (SAARCH) and former President of the Bhutan Institute of Architects, she brings a wealth of strategic and operational insight to this leadership role.
