Empowering Early Childhood Education

Timsina’s Toddler Toes at Kanglung, Tashigang

In the busy world of business, Tabita Timsina stands out for her dedication to children’s education. After graduating from Sherubtse College with a degree in Dzongkha and English, she realized how important early childhood education is. So, in 2019, she opened “Timsina’s Toddler Toes,” a place for kids to learn and grow.

Tabita believes that every child deserves a great start in life. That’s why her center isn’t just about teaching ABCs—it’s about helping kids develop in every way. They play, learn, and have fun while building confidence and curiosity.

At “Timsina’s Toddler Toes,” parents can trust that their children are in good hands. Tabita offers flexible schedules to fit busy lifestyles, making it easier for parents to balance work and family.

In just a few years, Tabita has become a leader in early childhood education in Kanglung, Tashigang. Her passion for helping kids learn and grow has made a big difference in the community. As “Timsina’s Toddler Toes” continues to grow, Tabita’s legacy of caring for kids and families will live on for years to come.

With unwavering determination and a clear vision in mind, Tabita set out to establish her childcare center.
From securing the necessary licenses and permits to designing a curriculum that blends learning and play,
every aspect of the business was meticulously planned and executed.

Although she started her business with support from her friends and family. Later she got funding from the Loden foundation, however, she had to shut her business right after she got support from Loden. Since the pandemic hit the country, every business was shut down. It made her stressful and discouraging moments but it did not break her enough to give up on her dream.

Central to Tabita’s philosophy is the belief that childcare is more than just supervision; it’s an opportunity to lay the foundation for lifelong learning and holistic development. Her ECCD center boasts a team of
dedicated educators who are not only qualified professionals but also passionate advocates for children’s
rights and well-being.

But like any entrepreneurial journey, Tabita’s path has been fraught with challenges. “The biggest challenge is internal conflict within myself since I am not confident about myself although my goal is to start business. Another challenge is financial because I am not aware of financial support from various agencies such as Loden foundation.” Yet, it is her resilience and unwavering commitment to her mission that have propelled her forward, turning setbacks into opportunities.

She claims, “We have a chance of getting to expand like preschool till grade three, if we have certain facilities that the government requires, we can act like private schools and I am looking forward to it. That gives me more hope since the government is going to be very supportive. The hardship that I and my team went through is bearing fruits now.”

“For me, entrepreneurship is like a father who provides for and supports his family, an entrepreneur takes on the responsibility of providing for their business, working tirelessly to ensure its success. We invest our time, effort, and resources into building something of value, often taking on personal risks and making sacrifices along the way. Just as a father nurture and guides his children, an entrepreneur nurtures and grows their business, striving for its prosperity and longevity,” Tabita added.

For aspiring entrepreneurs, her advice is to never expect the government or other people to always be on your side. Sometimes people say that the fish is on the other side of the pond but those people who are determined can attract the fish from the other side of the pond to the place where you are trying to catch it. Business is not only about up hills sometimes you have to go down hills and those downs are indicators that again you are going to climb up.

Today, Tabita’s Toddler Toes stands as a beacon of excellence in the community, serving as a testament to
her vision and dedication. As she looks to the future, her ambitions extend far beyond business success;
she envisions access to high-quality early childhood education, regardless of background or circumstance.

In the ever-evolving landscape of entrepreneurship, Tabita’s story serves as an inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs. Through passion, perseverance, and commitment we can create difference. She has not only built a thriving business but has also made a lasting impact on the lives of countless children and families.
