Lingchen Dorji

Lingchen Dorji is a writer and literary educator whose work reflects a deep commitment to storytelling and cultural exploration. Formerly a lecturer at Gedu College of Business Studies and Sherubtse College under the Royal University of Bhutan, he left academia to pursue his passion for writing full-time. Lingchen is the author of Home Shangrila and 21 Short Stories from Bhutan, and his latest book, The Writer and the Hermit, delves into the inner journey of Sonam, a young Bhutanese writer caught between creative ambition and spiritual longing.

He holds an MSc in Information and Library Studies from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland, and was honored with the Asia-GCC “Most Professional Librarian Award” in recognition of his leadership in education. A celebrated essayist, Lingchen is a three-time national award winner and has spoken at the prestigious Mountain Echoes Literary Festival in both 2011 and 2017.

His essays and stories have been featured in respected platforms such as the Journal of Bhutan Studies, Indian Review, Himal Southasian, the University of Cambridge, and Princeton University, earning him recognition as one of Bhutan’s leading literary voices. Through his work, Lingchen aspires to inspire the next generation of writers, thinkers, and dreamers. He is currently working on his next book, a mystery thriller set in contemporary Bhutan.
